Lillian's Closet, the Baby Boutique, is the St. Matthew Church's free baby clothing resource for area families that provides new and gently used clothing sized preemie to 2t. This free boutique was founded in July 2006 by First Lady Christy Davis-Jackson in response to the needs of the local Essex community's growing population of working families with babies and toddlers. Lillian's Closet was named after Lillian Jackson, the Pastor's mother, a woman who embodies all of the values of Christian love and faith in giving.
Lillian's Closet Boutique is located on the second floor of the church in a beautifully styled nursery and is staffed by a group of trained volunteers who service the Lillian's Closet shoppers with clothes, toys, and books. Lillian's Closet has received donations from the St. Matthew AME Church family, as well as businesses and corporations. Shoppers comment on the stylish offerings for their little ones and routinely marvel that they shop at no cost.
Lillian's Closet welcomes all area churches to send its members as needed to shop and enjoy its multitude of offerings for baby and toddlers.
