Meeting Time: Mondays at 7:00 PM
The Young People's Division (YPD) of the Harriet Tubman Missionary Society is a vital part of the life of St. Matthew AME Church and the Generation for Christ Youth Ministry. The YPD is a youth development program that includes bible study, The Doctrine and Discipline of the African Methodist Episcopal Church; service projects in the community; workshops in Christian social relations and family life, dealing with such topics as drug and alcohol abuse, personal development, teenage sexuality, communication, morals, etc.
The YPD consists of three (3) divisions: Young People Auxiliary (Youth ages 13 - 26), The Allen Stars (Ages 8 - 12) and Mother Sunbeams (Ages 3 - 7). Throughout the year, the YPD serves as the training ground for our youth. St. Matthew takes great responsibility in the overall growth of our youth. Annually the YPD sponsors several events including a Black History breakfast in February.
The YPD meets every Monday night from September through June at 7pm. Any person interested in enrolling their child in the YPD should contact the YPD Director through the church office.
